COLUMBUSS objectifies and automates the operator in transport systems. Operating procedures are the algorithms of the system. The thresholds are derived from the performance of human directors (human peer group). The AI is transparent (white box) and connects to existing certification processes, such as issuing a driver's license. This makes adoption easier, which supports the acceleration of usage.
COLUMBUSS uses as a basic rule for certification that an autonomous means of transport itself demonstrates that it does not reduce the stability of the transport system. Permission is regulated under restrictive conditions by continuously measuring the performance on operating procedures and comparing it with that of the human-peer group.
Participation in the COLUMBUSS platform entitles you to use shared source software and obliges you to contribute to the source and administrative process.
For public transport in the Netherlands, the right of use is free of charge. The DATA foundation will manage the IP and the shared source.
The COLUMBUSS platform is not limited to the Netherlands. International cooperation is sought. CETRAN and TRL are the first international participants in the COLUMBUSS community.
